Work Apr 20, 2005 @ 11:05
I guess I should probably update this thing since some big stuff has happened in my life the past few weeks. Tuesday, April 5th, 2005 I got a phone call from TV Guide in California telling me that I had been offered a job at TV Guide on Screen in Bedford, MA. This is flat-out the best news I have ever gotten in my entire life. It was a lot of work for me to be able to get this job. I interviewed on Jan 25th, and went back and forth with higher-ups several times before getting a rejection letter in the mail. Then, the next week, I heard they were still considering me, and the week after that was when I got the acceptance phone call.
Once I got the call, I told them I could start working on April 18th. This means that I would have less than 2 weeks to find an apartment, move, and get settled before I started working. However, I was up to the task. The day after I got the call, my parents and I went up to the Boston area to look at apartments. Unfortunately, they're all pretty expensive, but still within my budget. I ended up finding a pretty big 2 bedroom apartment in Waltham, right near the Carles River.
I would be moving in the next Thursday, so I had a week to pack my life up, and find some of the essentials for my apartment. This went pretty well, but it's a lot harder than you would think to pack up your entire life.
Seeing as I had no furniture to put in my new apartment, except for a bed, I needed some donations, or cheap stuff, badly. Thankfully, some friends of the family had been planning on re-furnishing their basement, and were going to be getting rid of a couch, loveseat, coffee table, and two end tables. See as that was exactly what I needed, I jumped at the offer. I also ended up getting two endtables for my bedroom, and a TV entertainment center. This is pretty much all the furnisihings in my new living room.
The move-in wasn't that bad. Since my mom and brother had to work, it was just me and my father doing all of the work. We took our time and got all the unloading done in a couple hours. Then we had to return the moving truck, and get a few other things done. Then we pretty much crashed, because we were exhausted.
Since moving in, I've pretty much been unpacking slowly, and working, so nothing much going on. Hopefully I'll be pretty much settled in soon, and maybe I'll have a housewarming party in a couple weeks. Right now I'm just trying to deal with finally being on my own with a steady job.
